Cummins is looking for an experienced Diesel Technician/Mechanic to complete our team in Fort McMurray, AB to support our operations at Suncor.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
- Engages customers in a courteous and professional manner.
- Anticipates and ensures prompt and efficient attention to customer needs.
- Applies the use of specialized tools and follows documented procedures and policies to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
- Performs preventative maintenance activities as per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field.
- Escalates unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor.
- Completes required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Identifies additional service opportunities with customers.
- Completes training in line with skill and business requirements.
- Maintains service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation.
- Ensures adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to site management and to their supervisor.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
- Heavy duty Red seal certification - Off road is mandatory
Experience
- Basic level field service work experience
- Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
- Mining experience is an asset as this position supports our mining team.
- Working on Komatsu's products is an asset.
- High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience is considered an asset for this role.
- Customer facing service experience is required.
About The Role
- Safety Sensitive Position
- 14 shifts on, 14 shifts off rotation
- Day and Night shifts
- Work is at Suncor Base Plant
- No accommodation - Cummins offers a monthly $1,000 allowance to cover this type of expenses.
- You are responsible for transportation to the work site (ride sharing is also available)
- Random drug and alcohol testing on site.
- Service vehicle and tooling are provided.
- Position will support our mining team.
- Cummins offers a $5,000 sign on bonus for this position.
- Premiums are associated with this position.
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our Company Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.

Hourly Rate - $66 per hour
