In this position, you perform a variety of sales and customer support duties at a retail postal location. You provide a critical service to your community by assisting the public with mailing needs while ensuring the accurate processing of outgoing mail and packages. Job Duties

• Retail Service: Assist the public with general mailing needs, including selling stamps, taking incoming mail, and processing specialized services like registered or certified mail.
• Technical Support: Help customers with administrative tasks such as completing change of address forms, managing mail holds, and issuing post office box keys.
• Mail Preparation: Sorting, hoisting, and shifting moderate to heavy quantities of mail and packages to prepare for distribution and dispatch.
• Finance & Accountability: Maintain accurate records of retail transactions and retrieve dues for postage charges on delivery or other applicable services.
• Operational Environment: Fulfill responsibilities in a structured retail and warehouse setting, adhering to strict schedules and ensuring compliance with all USPS policies and safety regulations.

Requirements

• Eligibility: Minimum of 18 years old (or 16 years old with a high school diploma).
• Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or citizen of a U.S. territory.
• Physical Ability: Capable of standing for long durations, carrying moderate to heavy loads (up to 70 lbs), and reaching or lifting on a regular basis.
• Core Skills: Exceptional customer service abilities, strong attention to detail, and effective time management to handle high-volume retail traffic.
