Production coordinator/lead hand

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Hand to oversee daily operations within our manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will provide leadership to team members, ensure safety and quality standards are met, and assist in meeting deadlines.

This role is vital in maintaining productivity, fostering teamwork, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of operations and staff to ensure that goals are met.
• Assist with the setup, operation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment, including forklifts.
• Conduct quality checks on products and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
• Train new employees on proper procedures, and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work activities, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance.
• Support inventory management by organizing materials and ensuring that the shipping and receiving department is well organized.
• Assist staff throughout the day to ensure schedule is maintained and the operation is staying on track.
• Collaborate with management to improve workflows, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.

Skills

• Proven experience in manufacturing or warehouse environments with a strong understanding of rigging using chains/eyebolts and shackles.
• Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and forklifts safely.
• Familiarity with shipping and receiving operations, inventory management, and material handling.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide team members effectively.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting equipment issues.
• Good communication skills to coordinate tasks across team members and report on operational performance.
• Forklift operation experience is a must
