Job Description

GENERAL DUTIES

1. Ensure construction methods are in compliance, perform scope changes, offer technical assistance throughout assigned delivery territory.

2. Conducts field inspections, analysis and observations of telecom construction work in a specific geographical area with respect to Client Inspection Program.

3. Preliminary visits to work site prior to construction confirming scope of work, and identifying any job constraints or hazards.

4. Inspection during construction phase. Final restoration inspection (including spring clean-up when required.)

5. Ensure projects are completed on time, control extra charges and monitor customer quality expectations.

6. Resolve variance and customer concerns in a timely and professional manner.

7. All modifications to be documented (in writing) with the reasons for deviations, work stoppages, design changes, etc.

9. Document daily production/progress.

10. Coordinate work activities with Municipal representatives, construction foreman and crews.

11. Adhere to project delivery timelines and client deliverable dates.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience with Field inspection, construction specific to telecom design and practices.

2. Valid G license and clean driving abstract.

3. Working, reliable vehicle for daily travel required for the position.

EDUCATION

1. A post-secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Telecommunications Technology, or related field.

2. Relevant certifications in construction inspection or telecommunications.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

1. Construction Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of telecommunications construction methods and best practices.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction safety regulations and procedures.
  • Experience with field inspections and quality control.

2. Telecommunications Specifics:

  • Understanding of telecom network infrastructure (fiber optics, cable, etc.).
  • Knowledge of client inspection programs and standards.

3. Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficiency in using field inspection tools and equipment.
  • Ability to document and report findings accurately.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in relevant software. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, or Google Suite of Products (Docs and Sheets).
  • Ability to read and understand GIS mapping systems.

WORKING SCHEDULE & LOCATION

➢ Monday to Friday (7:00 AM to 4:00 PM)

➢ Half hour lunch (Unpaid)

➢ Territory: Barrie / Orillia Area

➢ Hybrid position

  • Individual pay is determined based on several factors, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
