Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a busy, deadline-driven post-production company in Alexandria, Virginia, specializing in visual media finishing for national broadcast on PBS and Roku. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Post-Production Manager to join our team and serve as the operational hub between our clients, editors, and technical staff.
This role is the operational heartbeat of our studio — keeping every project on track by managing client communication, coordinating editor schedules, working with external vendors, and ensuring smooth delivery from intake to final output. Success in this position comes down to exceptional organizational ability and clear, confident communication.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage incoming client communications — field questions directly when possible, acknowledge and route to the appropriate editor when not
- Tag editors on project-specific threads and relay updates to the team through internal messaging
- Convert approved estimates into active projects, populating key details including date received, due date, producer contact, billing contact, and PBS production contact as applicable
- Assign lead editors to new projects and use scheduling tools to balance workloads across the team
- Track tasks, comments, and assignment dates within the project management system; monitor which tasks still require scheduling and which are fully assigned
- Review all assigned tasks at the end of each day — reschedule incomplete items and communicate delays to clients or delivery recipients (PBS, APT, NETA, Roku) as needed
- Coordinate closed captioning with primary vendors: NCI, Verbit, and Cotter Captioning
- Track editor availability using project management and shared calendar tools
- Field incoming phone calls and serve as a communication bridge between editors and clients when needed
- Verify completed projects are fully documented and ready for billing, then route to the accounting department
YOU’LL REGULARLY WORK WITH
PBS, American Public Television (APT), NETA, Roku, Amazon, public television stations nationwide, and independent producers around the world.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong organizational and time-management skills — you thrive juggling multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication
- Comfort with project management software; experience with tools such as Avaza, Gmail, Google Workspace, or similar platforms is a plus — willingness to learn and improve our workflow is what matters most
- Proficiency with standard office and productivity software
- Reliable computer skills and accurate typing
- A basic understanding of video post-production workflow is helpful; familiarity with Avid, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, Frame.io, and timecode calculation is a bonus — not a requirement
EXPERIENCE LEVEL
Mid-level experience preferred. We will consider entry-level candidates who demonstrate exceptional organizational ability, communication skills, and a genuine eagerness to learn the post-production environment.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range $45,000–$55,000 commensurate with experience, plus benefits including health insurance contribution, and paid time off.
WHY WORK WITH US
We are a small, close-knit team that takes pride in the quality of our work and the relationships we build — with our clients and with each other. We offer a collaborative, family-oriented atmosphere where your contributions are noticed and valued.
We also understand that life doesn’t run on a fixed clock. We offer flexible scheduling that allows you to work around traffic, personal commitments, and the rhythms of your day — as long as the work gets done and our clients are taken care of, we trust you to manage your time.
If you’re looking for a place where you can grow, take real ownership of your role, and be part of something meaningful in public media, we’d love to hear from you.
