Job Description
Role Summary
The Server Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining the organization's server, virtualization, and core infrastructure environments. This role ensures high availability, optimal performance, and continuous improvement of systems that support both internal operations and customer-facing services.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Infrastructure Design, Deployment & Administration
Design, install, configure, and optimize servers and related hardware/software for internal and customer environments.
Administer and support Microsoft technologies, Active Directory, Hyper-V, VMware vCenter/ESXi, and Windows Server (2016/2019/2022).
Manage distributed Windows Server infrastructure deployments and rollouts.
Oversee Microsoft IIS setup, configuration, and maintenance.
Perform basic Linux/UNIX administration.
Operations, Monitoring & Maintenance
Proactively manage server OS, applications, authentication, and MFA-related issues.
Implement monitoring, configuration management, and automated reporting.
Maintain accurate inventory and asset configuration documentation.
Provide after-hours and occasional weekend support for emergencies and maintenance.
Ensure reliable Veeam backup, restoration, and DR readiness.
Security, Network & Directory Services
Administer and maintain AD/LDAP environments, group policies, and PowerShell automation.
Troubleshoot network issues including routing, VLANs, subnetting, DHCP, DNS.
Support and enhance O365 and Azure environments.
Project Execution & Continuous Improvement
Develop and execute project plans including risk and contingency assessments.
Define, document, and enforce best practices and operational standards.
Participate in vendor evaluation and negotiations.
Lead or support special management-assigned projects.
Collaboration, Support & Leadership
Provide technical-level communication and support to internal staff and customers.
Mentor and cross-train team members.
Demonstrate solid communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
Adapt to changing environments and travel domestically/internationally when required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Microsoft Certification (MCSE) or equivalent desired.
Advanced expertise in Windows Server, Windows 10/11, virtualization, and enterprise IT infrastructure.
