Location: Office-based (potential for hybrid schedule in the future)
Schedule: Business hours with on-call rotation
Position Overview
The Managed Services Administrator is responsible for managing, automating, and optimizing IT infrastructures across multiple client environments from a centralized managed services platform. This role ensures consistent, secure, and reliable service delivery while driving the evolution from manual operational tasks to automated, repeatable processes.
Initially, the role is primarily operational, with a strong expectation that the individual will identify automation opportunities, build and test solutions, document new processes, and help the organization scale service delivery capacity over time.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform client organization on-boarding and off-boarding
- Monitor environments and respond to alerts and system events
- Act as a high-level escalation point for the service desk
- Provide professional client support with strong verbal communication and client-handling skills
- Maintain detailed ticket notes, resolutions, and procedural documentation
- Administer RMM platforms and supporting management tools
- Conduct proactive monitoring, maintenance, and system health checks
- Enforce system integrity, security standards, and best practices
- Plan and execute product and tool migrations
- Identify repetitive or manual tasks suitable for automation
- Design, test, document, and maintain scripted solutions
- Ensure proper testing and change control prior to deployment
- Train and explain updated processes and workflows to teammates and other departments
Automation & Technical Expectations
- Develop automation primarily using PowerShell
- Work confidently with APIs and JSON-based data structures
- Follow established standards including:
- * Git version control
- Code review processes
- Change control procedures
- Testing and validation prior to deployment
- Build sustainable automation supported by documentation and maintenance practices
Required Skills & Experience
- Intermediate PowerShell scripting experience
- Strong experience with:
- * Microsoft Windows Server environments
- Microsoft workstation operating systems
- Server hardware supporting enterprise workloads
- Experience with backup technologies, including:
- * Image-based backups
- VSS-based backup solutions
- Experience administering RMM tools and monitoring platforms
- Knowledge of Microsoft Intune, Entra and management
- Knowledge of patching, backup, and security tools
- Ability to support and manage multiple client environments
- Strong written documentation and verbal communication skills
- Independent problem-solving ability in operational and escalation scenarios
Preferred / Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity with MacOS
- Experience working within or supporting compliance-aligned environments
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as:
- * NIST
- CIS Critical Security Controls (IG1)
- Experience contributing to operational or service-delivery process improvements
