Senior AV & Smart Home Technician

Peak Audio Video is a leading provider of advanced smart home, AV, networking, shading, and security systems in Atlantic Canada. Based in Halifax’s North End, we design and install technology solutions for high-end residential homes and boutique commercial environments.
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior AV & Smart Home Technician to join our growing team.
This position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, technically skilled, self-sufficient, and capable of working independently while collaborating with a team on complex installations.
Responsibilities
- Install and configure residential and commercial AV systems
- Install distributed audio and video systems
- Install and terminate low-voltage wiring in new construction and retrofit environments
- Install and configure network equipment including routers, switches, and wireless access points
- Install security and surveillance systems
- Install motorized roller shading systems (Lutron, Somfy, or similar)
- Mount televisions, speakers, and AV equipment
- Rack and dress equipment in structured wiring racks
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues in the field
- Maintain a clean and professional work environment on job sites
- Travel throughout Nova Scotia as required for project installations
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3+ years experience in AV, smart home, or low-voltage installation
- Experience installing distributed audio/video systems
- Experience working with 70V / 100V commercial audio systems
- Strong knowledge of structured wiring and low-voltage termination
- Experience mounting TVs and installing architectural speakers
- Basic networking knowledge (routers, switches, wireless access points)
- Experience with security and surveillance systems
- Experience installing motorized shades (Lutron, Somfy, or similar)
- Understanding of residential and commercial low-voltage installation practices and applicable codes
- Ability to read floor plans and wiring diagrams
- Self-sufficient with the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Professional communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to travel throughout Nova Scotia when required
- Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Ability to lift 70–80 lbs
Additional Skills Considered an Asset
- Experience with Control4 systems
- Experience with Lutron lighting or shading systems
- Experience with Ubiquiti or Araknis networking equipment
- Experience installing equipment racks and structured wiring panels
Compensation
Excellent compensation package based on experience and qualifications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
