Position Title: Lab Technician – Pharmacy Department

Reporting To: Head of Department (HOD) – Pharmacy
Job Summary
The Lab Technician in the Pharmacy Department is responsible for assisting faculty and students during practical sessions, maintaining laboratory equipment and chemicals, ensuring laboratory safety, and supporting the smooth functioning of all pharmacy laboratories as per academic and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratories for practical classes, experiments, and demonstrations.
- Arrange chemicals, reagents, instruments, glassware, and other laboratory materials before practical sessions.
- Assist faculty members and students during laboratory experiments and research activities.
- Maintain proper stock records of chemicals, equipment, consumables, and laboratory instruments.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards in all pharmacy laboratories.
- Handle storage, labeling, and disposal of chemicals and hazardous materials according to safety guidelines.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment regularly.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the concerned authority.
- Maintain attendance and usage records of laboratory equipment and materials.
- Support internal audits, inspections, and accreditation processes related to laboratories.
- Ensure compliance with PCI, AICTE, university, and institutional laboratory norms.
- Coordinate with vendors for procurement and servicing of laboratory items when required.
- Assist in conducting workshops, seminars, practical examinations, and departmental activities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy (D.Pharm/B.Pharm) or relevant qualification.
- Prior experience in handling pharmacy laboratories will be preferred.
- Basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and pharmaceutical instruments.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of pharmacy laboratory operations and equipment.
- Good organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Basic computer knowledge for inventory and documentation work.
- Ability to work effectively with faculty and students.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Experience
- Fresher or experienced candidates may apply.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in educational institutions/pharmacy labs.
Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Candidate should be willing to assist during practical sessions, examinations, workshops, and departmental activities as required by the institution.
