SCOPE:
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Expenditure Clerk will be responsible for the thorough review of the expenditures from PAF’s Financial Support Programs. This role requires maintaining strict confidentiality of any information obtained through employment with Patient Advocate Foundation at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Requires a thorough understanding of the Financial Support Programs guidelines as it pertains to the expenditures and claims process
- Thorough review of a high volume of expenditures submitted from the Financial Support Programs, through the program’s database, ensuring information is accurate and adheres to established program guidelines
- Responsible for account documentation within the Financial Support Program’s database, noting the status of each account
- Work with the leaders within the Financial Support Programs when expenditures are not complete or inaccurate to obtain needed information to complete the expenditure
- Serve as backup to research outstanding checks, when requested
- Serve as backup for processing credits to patients’ accounts, when requested
- Assist with various duties within the patient file room, when requested
NON- ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with filing when requested
- Perform other duties as assigned
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must be very detail oriented and have the ability to work independently handling a high volume of work
- Data entry skills and ability to accurately notate patient accounts
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with individuals across all organizational levels
- Ability to be flexible in workflow
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word and Excel
- Working knowledge within a customer management database
- Ability to follows proper organizational channels
QUALIFICATIONS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school degree or equivalent
- 2+ years of professional experience required
- Experience in a role that required detailed review or auditing of documents
- Experience within a healthcare environment handling administrative functions around patient billing or medical claims, preferred
