Job Description
Paper Carrot Studio is seeking a highly skilled Staff Videographer to join our team. We specialize in documentary-style storytelling for corporations, nonprofits, and businesses, prioritizing radical authenticity over polished or over-produced corporate marketing.
We are looking for a true professional: a cinematographer who understands the full production lifecycle and the critical synergy between a field shooter and the editing suite.
The Role
You will be responsible for capturing high-impact visual assets while maintaining the technical standards of our production workflow. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, understanding exactly what a professional video editor needs to craft a cohesive and compelling story from the raw footage.
- Labor only; all production equipment provided
- Schedule: Part-time (flexible based on project requirements)
- Pay Cycle: Weekly
- Location: Metro Washington, DC area for gear pickup and shoots
Core Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Production: Execute end-to-end cinematography using company-provided gear, including advanced lighting, professional audio capture, and precise camera operation.
- Editing Workflow Literacy: Anticipate the needs of the post-production process. You will be responsible for organized media management, maintaining narrative continuity on set, and ensuring that the footage captured provides the editor with the necessary coverage to finalize the piece seamlessly.
- Technical Stewardship: Expertly manage and care for studio equipment (Canon C70, EOS R systems, and various prime/RF lenses) and handle all power and media logistics during production.
- Collaborative Execution: Work within our lean, agile team structure to deliver a visual style that aligns with the Paper Carrot brand.
Requirements
- Professional Expertise: Proven experience as a professional videographer or cinematographer. Your portfolio must demonstrate a high level of competency in documentary-style production.
- Post-Production Awareness: A deep understanding of how raw footage translates to the edit. You should be able to articulate your role in facilitating a smooth post-production process.
- Equipment Mastery: High-level proficiency with Canon C-Series and EOS R systems is required.
Reliability & Logistics: Professional demeanor on set and the ability to manage gear transport and time effectively during location shoots.
Pay: $55.00 - $100.00 per hour
Work Location: Hybrid remote in McLean, VA 22102
