Neuro ICU Nurse

A Neuro ICU Nurse provides specialized care to critically ill patients with neurological conditions such as stroke,

head injury, brain tumors, and post-neurosurgical cases. They monitor brain function closely and respond quickly to life-threatening changes.

Key Responsibilities

Initial Assessment

1 Perform neurological assessment (GCS, pupil response, motor function)

2 Review history and reports

3 Prepare ICU equipment and bed

Monitoring & Care

1 Monitor neurological status and vital signs

2 Manage ventilator and oxygen therapy

3 Administer medications

4 Maintain infection control

Critical Care Responsibilities

1 Handle emergencies (seizures, raised ICP, cardiac arrest)

2 Assist in procedures

3 Maintain airway and positioning

4 Manage sedation and pain

Ongoing Care

1 Post-operative monitoring

2 Prevent complications

3 Nutrition and fluid management

4 Educate patient relatives

Technical Skills

1 Knowledge of neuro ICU protocols

2 Ventilator management

Qualifications

1 B.Sc Nursing / GNM

2 ICU experience preferred

3 BLS & ACLS certification
