Job Summary
The successful Maintenance Technician is a hard-working, motivated individual who can benefit from Palmer’s internal training program and eventually work independently. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment throughout the manufacturing facility to support safe and efficient production operations.
This position supports a variety of industrial systems including rotating machinery, pumps, piping systems, electrical equipment, and automated control systems. The role requires frequent moving, exertion of moderate to heavy physical effort, and prolonged standing.
Duties
- Respond to maintenance calls from Production
- Safely diagnose equipment problems and perform repairs
- Conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) jobs
- Perform lubrication and maintenance of rotating equipment including motors, bearings, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems
- Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial electrical systems including three phase and 480-volt equipment
- Support troubleshooting and basic maintenance of PLC-controlled equipment and automated systems
- Install, repair, and maintain pumps, valves, and piping systems used in manufacturing processes
- Support safe maintenance activities in environments involving combustible dust and hazardous chemicals
- Follow all safety procedures related to hazardous materials handling and process equipment
- Adhere to all Palmer safety requirements, including safe ergonomics and Lock Out Tag Out procedures
- Write daily shift reports
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition
- Support general facility maintenance as required
Qualifications
- Trade school degree or equivalent technical training preferred
- Strong reading, writing, and comprehension skills
- Ability to follow standard operating procedures
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of hand tools and maintenance equipment
- At least five (5) years of general maintenance experience including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work on a wide variety of machines
- Experience working in manufacturing environments involving hazardous chemicals or combustible dust preferred
Requirements
- Capable of meeting the physical demands of this position
- Ability to kneel, crouch, bend, reach, climb ladders, pull and push up to 55 lbs.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and contribute to group goals
- Forklift operating experience
- Support ISO 9001 standards, environmental and quality programs
- Learn and implement all safety and waste handling procedures
- Ensure that all safety and housekeeping procedures are followed
- Experience with hand tools
- Minimal computer skills
- Perform overtime as required
Working Conditions:

- Fumes / Dust (Respirators required in designated areas)
- Loud Machinery (Ear plugs and/or muffs required)
- Overhead work (Hard hat required)
- Confined space entry
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
