Job Description
The Pennsylvania Ag Discovery Center is hiring an Executive Director to lead the organization’s next phase of growth. The Board is seeking a collaborative nonprofit leader with strong fundraising ability, agricultural industry connections, and experience creating community experiences and visitor engagement that bring the Center’s mission to life.
Reporting to—and partnering closely with—the Board of Directors, you will lead strategy, fundraising, partnerships, and operational buildout. You’ll cultivate donors and sponsors, leverage existing connections, and represent the Center in the community and across the agricultural industry.
Responsibilities
· Partner closely with the Board to set priorities and execute strategy.
· Lead fundraising (major gifts, donor stewardship, fundraising events) and help position/run a capital campaign.
· Build and deepen agricultural industry partnerships and community relationships across Pennsylvania.
· Develop programming concepts that strengthen community experiences and visitor engagement.
· Oversee planning and coordination for design/development/construction readiness, including budgets and vendor/contractor coordination.
· Represent the Center at local and agricultural industry events; serve as the organization’s lead ambassador.
· Build an opening-ready operating plan and budget to support sustainable operations.
Qualifications
· Nonprofit leadership experience, including effective partnership with a board.
· Demonstrated fundraising success (major gifts and/or sponsorships; capital campaign experience strongly preferred).
· Experience creating community experiences and/or visitor engagement (e.g., museums, education, destination attractions, mission-centered public programming).
· Agricultural industry connections (or the credibility and track record to build them quickly).
· Strong communication, relationship-building, and project management skills.
Schedule & work location
Hybrid schedule: 2 days in-office and 3 days remote (Adams County, PA). In-person meetings and community presence are essential; some evening/weekend availability may be needed for events and donor cultivation.
