Data Center Cable Technician

Data Center Technician/Installer - $23-27/hr-DOE

We are currently hiring both entry level installers with a background in labor/construction work and experienced technicians with a background in cabling, who are interested in working in a hyperscale data center environment. Candidates must be comfortable commuting throughout the Northern Virginia area, as data center sites may be located in areas like Leesburg, Ashburn, Chantilly, Manassas, and Alexandria. Candidates must have a background in either construction work, or have previous cabling experience-candidates with a background in IT will not be considered.

Entry Level Installer Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a construction/labor setting REQUIRED
• Willingness to learn
• Energetic, eager, and motivated
• High level of professionalism
• Reliable Transportation
• Ability to lift 50 pounds

Data Center Technician Qualifications:

• Recent experience installing low voltage cable in new construction or data center environment is required
• Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA, or NEC Standards
• Experience running or bending conduit, with digital multi-meters, and testing cable is a plus
• Fiber experience including Anaerobic Terminations, SC and LC Connectors, and Splicing is a plus
• Ability to read and understand schematic and line diagrams
• Your own basic telecom tools including punch downs, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, PPE (safety gear), etc.

Data Center Technician Duties:

• Pulling and routing CAT 5 or CAT 6 or Fiber cable in new construction and existing data center environment
• Dressing, labeling, and terminating low voltage wires
• Installing support structures (ladder racks, racks, switches, servers, j-hooks, cable trays, basket trays, etc.)
• Terminating voice and data jacks and dressing and terminating distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels)
• Rack and stack work, closet work, putting together server racks, patch panels
• Material Handling, unloading truck shipments

Compensation

• Competitive starting pay $23/hr – 27/hr – DOE.
