Job Description
Administrative & Operations Assistant (Contract)
Guelph/Ontario, Canada | ~2–4 hours/day (approx. 8:00–11:00 AM) | $21–$30 CAD/hour (commensurate with experience)
About the Company
We run a growing online school delivering subject-based ESL lessons to students in China. Our team includes 9 agents who support a network of 129 freelance teachers located around the world. We're a small, fast-moving operation and we're looking for someone to help keep things running smoothly. www.organiceducation.ca
The Role
The director currently handles a wide range of day-to-day tasks and needs a reliable in-person assistant to take many of these off her plate. This is a contract position requiring physical presence in our Ontario office for a few hours each morning. In the future, the role may shift to a hybrid arrangement — and for the right person, there is real potential to grow into a broader operations role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Managing scheduling and calendar coordination
- Filing, organizing, and general office administration
- Communicating with agents on behalf of management
- Basic bookkeeping using QuickBooks
- Building PowerPoint presentations (based on provided outlines/plans)
- Screening job applicants
- Handling miscellaneous tasks as needed
What We're Looking For
- Organized, dependable, and proactive
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint) and general computer tasks
- Some experience with QuickBooks or basic bookkeeping is an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
