Senior Data Engineer- Snowflake - USC/GC (federal client)

Overview

Oran Inc. is seeking a Senior Snowflake Data Engineer to support a federal data modernization initiative. This role focuses on migrating legacy SAS ETL processes into a Snowflake ELT architecture on AWS. You will collaborate with senior engineers to develop ingestion frameworks, ensure data quality, and support production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Snowflake Development

• Develop and maintain tables (RAW, TARGET), views, stored procedures, tasks, and streams
• Implement COPY INTO for file ingestion
• Support incremental and historical data loads
• Assist with schema validation and evolution

AWS & Data Integration

• Work with Amazon S3 for data ingestion and storage
• Understand IAM role basics
• Support file processing (CSV, pipe-delimited, fixed-width, GZIP/ZIP)

Data Engineering & ELT

• Load and transform data across Bronze (RAW), Silver, and Gold layers
• Perform data validation (row counts, duplicates, schema checks)
• Support metadata tracking and run documentation

Data Quality & Support

• Reconcile Snowflake outputs against legacy SAS datasets
• Troubleshoot data discrepancies and load failures

DevOps & Deployment

• Use Azure DevOps Git for version control
• Support deployments across DEV, STG, and PROD
• Follow structured branching and folder standards

Required Qualifications

• 1–3 years of data engineering or ETL experience
• Strong SQL skills (joins, aggregations, window functions)
• Experience with Snowflake or similar cloud data warehouse
• Experience with AWS S3
• Understanding of incremental load concepts and relational modeling

Preferred

• Experience migrating legacy ETL (SAS, Informatica)
• Snowflake Tasks, Streams, and Stored Procedures
• AWS Glue familiarity
• Exposure to CI/CD and data quality frameworks
