Join us in Shaping Success! The Sr. Program Manager (PMO) plays a crucial role in elevating program excellence through expert oversight, strategic advisory, and insightful performance management. This pivotal position involves leading efforts to enhance program governance, increase PMO effectiveness, and deliver critical performance insights.
Working closely with our XXX and a System Integrator, the consultant provides independent assurance, conducting diagnostics, developing dashboards, and performing health checks that empower leadership with transparent, actionable recommendations. This role ensures the program remains aligned with strategic goals, adheres to the highest PMO standards, and supports successful outcomes through informed, executive-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Governance & PMO Oversight
- Provide independent oversight of the PMO by assessing its overall health and effectiveness and reporting findings periodically.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, leveraging large-scale delivery and mature PMO experience to recommend delivery improvements. This role does not act as the ERP Program Manager and does not own day-to-day delivery execution.
- Oversee management of program scope, schedule, resources, and communications to ensure alignment across work streams and stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to established PMO processes, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Partner effectively with the customer’s internal PMO and the System Integrator.
- Conduct on-the-ground observation of PMO people, processes, and delivery methodologies to identify improvement opportunities.
- Program Performance Tracking & Executive Reporting
- Oversee transparent tracking and reporting of overall program health and performance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive PMO Health Scorecard to surface risks, delays, and areas requiring leadership action.
- Develop dashboards and periodic health checks that highlight delivery performance, trends, and improvement recommendations.
- Review and enhance existing program performance communications to ensure release-level clarity for executive audiences.
- Translate complex performance data into clear, concise written updates for senior leadership.
- Roles, Responsibilities & Governance Model Enhancement
- Review and refine existing PMO roles and responsibilities as needed.
- Evaluate PMO processes and governance effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations and implement necessary modifications, including periodic governance tune-ups.
- Standards, Best Practices, Tools & Templates
- Evaluate current program and project management tools, templates, and governance mechanisms.
- Recommend improvements to operating models, performance tracking, and governance monitoring.
- Support the adoption of industry-standard PMO best practices.
- PMO Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate PMO processes and program deliverables for governance adherence.
- Assess Program KPIs and compliance with SDLC or delivery methodologies.
- Provide observations, advisement, and actionable recommendations based on deliverable reviews and approval cycles.
- Program & Project Management Support
- Provide industry-standard program and project management expertise to support execution and continuous improvement.
- Assist with governance objectives and the overall program.
- Integrated Program Schedule Management
- Review the existing integrated program schedule and adjust the level of detail to ensure full release impact visibility.
- Identify dependencies and ensure schedule changes are clearly understood across the program.
- Maintain or enhance the integrated program schedule using existing or alternative platforms, as appropriate.
- Support schedule health assessments and recommendations for improvement.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in a Project/Program Management capacity.
- Prior experience conducting comparable assessments.
- Experience assessing PMO maturity and recommending improvements to governance, operating model, and delivery methodology.
- Demonstrated experience in Technology Product Release Program Management.
