The Opportunity
This position is involved in the day to day operations across the Automobile and Residential lines of business, ensuring effective and timely processing of operational transactions. Leading a team of underwriters and support employees, the Personal Lines Leader drives employee development, identifies and implements opportunities for efficiencies, and manages the transaction service levels of the underwriting department.
The incumbent is recognized as both a technical expert and a forward thinking leader who embraces innovation, technology enabled underwriting, and enhanced risk controls. This role provides guidance and mentorship to internal staff and external broker and agent partners while supporting the modernization of initiatives such as underwriting by exception, workflow automation, and digital process improvements.

How You Will Create An Impact
- Leads an underwriting team to meet or exceed expectations on turnaround times for inspection reviews, new business, renewals, and endorsements
- Accountable for developing and managing process efficiencies across all lines of business and transactions, including technology enabled improvements
- Develops, coordinates, and conducts technical training for underwriting employees and supports training for the distribution force
- Supports the development of the underwriting department budget and monitors expenses to forecasted amounts
- Supports the resolution of consumer and/or broker complaints
- Champions awareness and understanding of risk controls, digital tools, and data driven insights to strengthen underwriting governance
What You Will Bring
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education.
- Successful completion or pursuit of industry designations is an asset.
- 5–7 years of advanced underwriting experience with P&C insurance, including mentorship and coaching.
- Strong computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and comfort with technology-driven underwriting tools.
- Effective communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written) and strong presentation skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to motivate teams to produce quality work within tight timeframes.
