Job Summary
The Policy Analyst is responsible for providing support on a wide range of economic and policy issues affecting the sustainability and effectiveness of Onion Lake Administration. The Policy Analyst will work with internal organizational representatives and external agencies to identify issues, compile and analyze information and advise appropriate policy positions. This includes identifying problems, evaluating existing policies, and proposing solutions or improvements. They will work in various fields such as health, education, and environmental policies, etc.
Responsibilities
· Develop policy and assess program efficiency
· Conduct research on current issues, analyze data and evidence, and identify emerging problems
· Develop and interpret reports and integrate information into significant documents
· Conduct policy evaluations
· Assess the effectiveness of existing policies and identify areas for improvement
· Formulate new policy proposals and recommendations based on research and analysis
· Consult with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure policy relevance
· Communicate findings and recommendations to decision-makers and the public
· Advocate for policy changes where appropriate
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
· Experience working in a First Nations organization is considered an asset
· Prior experience applying for ISC funding is considered an asset
· Knowledge of the negotiation and administration of contracts and legal documents
· Strong ability to evaluate information and identify patterns and trends
· Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively convey findings and recommendations
· Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines
