Firewall Administrator

Location: Burnaby, BC, hybrid.

Start Date: ASAP (or within two weeks’ notice).

Duration: One (1) year initial contract; extendible for up to another (12) months.

Project / Position Summary:

We are seeking an Intermediate Firewall Administrator to implement and change firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS rules. Work with customers / vendors to troubleshoot project related firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS issues. Analyze the existing firewall and IDS/IPS rules to address operational issues. Update project / operational documentation and progress production change requests as required for firewall and zoning related activities.

Responsibilities / Deliverables:

The Firewall Administrator responsibilities/deliverables may include, but may not be limited to:

• Implement / change firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS rules.
• Work with customers / vendors to troubleshoot project related firewall, proxy and IDS/IPS issues.
• Analyze the existing firewall and IDS/IPS rules to address operational issues.
• Update project / operational documentation and progress production change requests as required for firewall and zoning related activities.

Experience / Skills Requirements:

The Firewall Administrator should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

1. A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a university degree or technical diploma in a Computer Science program, plus related certifications.

2. At least four (4) years of recent experience implementing / supporting firewall rules, active directory, and DNS in a .

3. CCNA or equivalent certification is preferred.

4. Strong understanding of logical network and firewalling principles.

5. Strong operational knowledge of Fortinet/Palo Alto/Cisco Firewalls, F5 LTM, and Microsoft ISA/TMG.

6. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

7. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and multi-task.

8. Proficient computer skills using .

9. Good communication, customer interaction, and organizational skills.
