What you’ll do
- Deliver software on schedule, supporting the team in meeting sprint goals.
- Work both independently and within an Agile team to produce clean, maintainable code.
- Solve complex problems with innovative, reliable solutions.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers throughout planning, design, development, and deployment of web‑based micro‑services.
- Showcase progress regularly to customers and stakeholders.
Minimum qualifications
- Principal Engineer (Level 3): Bachelor’s degree + ≥ 5 years software development or Master’s degree + ≥ 3 years experience
- Sr. Principal Engineer (Level 4): Bachelor’s degree + ≥ 8 years software development or Master’s degree + ≥ 6 years experience
Common requirements for both levels
- Full‑stack web development experience with Python and Flask.
- Hands‑on Agile development experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with small technical teams.
- Proven ability to prioritize, adjust tasks, and deliver results.
- Demonstrated analytical skill‑set for complex problem solving.
- U.S. citizenship with an active TS/SCI clearance

- Back‑end & APIs – Microservices, Swagger/OpenAPI, Python/Flask, TypeScript, JavaScript
- Front‑end – HTML, CSS
- Infrastructure & Containerization – Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Helm, Argo, Terraform
- Databases – PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, Cassandra
- Observability & Monitoring – Grafana, Elastic
- DevOps / DevSecOps – CI/CD pipelines, Git/GitLab, SonarQube, Trivy/Claire, Linux command line
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
