We’re looking for a Public Relations Specialist who can amplify the lottery’s mission with clarity, passion, and precision. In this role, you’ll blend strategy and creativity to craft stories that elevate our brand and explain how we support education statewide. You’ll manage community relations efforts, produce engaging content across all channels, and ensure our messaging stays consistent, compelling, and aligned with our values. This is a hybrid position
Responsibilities
- Gather and produce stories and content that raise awareness of how the lottery benefits the state
- Develop new and maintain current relationships with education stakeholders. Plan and participate in community relations events with stakeholders to promote the lottery’s mission, tracking the value of sponsorships and their impact
- Produce content for internal communications, including for the lottery’s Intranet site and weekly employee newsletter, and design and distribute the weekly newsletter using the lottery’s email marketing platform
- Compile, track and maintain data and information on the education programs supported by the lottery
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field, and a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience in public relations, communications, stakeholder engagement, or marketing programs.
- Excellent public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Skill and experience in working like a journalist to find and tell stories.
- Advanced skills in production of written documents and engaging presentations for external groups, including use of presentation applications such as PowerPoint and Prezi.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Adobe Creative Suite, including Express, Photoshop, or InDesign; email marketing, including Constant Contact; and Intranet applications such as SharePoint and ShortPoint.
- Superior organizational and problem-solving skills, analytical mind, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Proactive mindset with high level of drive, energy, persistence, and initiative.
- Demonstrable strategic thinking abilities.
- Must utilize proper judgment and decision making in day-to-day tasks.
- Able to understand and conceptualize data and explain data in an easy, understandable way to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to take complex messages and turn them into messages any audience can understand.
- Experience leading and managing company reports/newsletters from conception to delivery.
- Experience in following brand guidelines and representing a brand, ensuring consistent messaging throughout content.
- Knowledge of social media sites: Facebook, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Instagram.
