Job Description
Noram Electrolysis Systems Inc (NESI) (www.nesi.tech) is looking to hire one or more chemical/process engineers for our Research and Development team, based at our facility located on Mitchell Island (Richmond, BC).
NESI is a privately held Vancouver company working in industrial electrochemistry. We develop and provide technology, equipment and engineering packages to clients worldwide. NESI provides technology in electrolysis systems at the lab, pilot and commercial scale.

Currently, NESI is developing electrolysis processes for various industries such as production of raw materials for battery production, battery recycling, recovery of valuable feedstocks from waste effluents, clean-tech, and carbon capture. These novel processes are being tested at the bench scale and at the pilot plant scale and are being deployed commercially.
NESI is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented team player to participate in the execution of lab and pilot plant tests and to assist in process design at all scales. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including chemists, process, mechanical, and electrical engineers, designers and project managers, to execute and complete project deliverables.
The candidate is expected to contribute to research and testing activities.
Job Requirements
Desired Skills
· Can be a new graduate or have up to 3-4 years of experience.
· Willingness to work in a hands-on, rapid pace environment
· Excellent problem-solving skills
· Ability to work in a team or independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously
· Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
· Excellent time management, communication and people skills
· Knowledge of safety practices, and basic chemistry principles
· Technical language fluency in a second language especially Spanish considered an asset
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas.
Hands-on lab/pilot experience:
· Experience with wet lab techniques such as thermal separations, titrations and other wet analytical techniques, ion selective electrodes, pH measurements. Previous experience in lab or pilot scale facilities or other research and development experience is an asset.
· Experience in literature review, experimental design, data analysis and technical report writing.
· Experience in instrumentation and process control is an asset.
· Experience with electrochemical techniques such as polarization curves, cyclic voltammetry and chronopotentiometry would be an asset.
Process design experience:
· Ability to develop PFD’s, P&ID’s and perform mass and energy balances would be an asset.
· Specification and sizing of pilot to commercial scale equipment and instruments.
· Experience with engineering programs such as Aspen Plus, Hysys, Heat Exchanger Design, AutoCAD, CFD would be an asset.
· Experience participating in hazard studies would be an asset.
Pay: $60,000.00-$98,000.00 per year
