Job Description
The Couples and Family Counselor supports couples and families in understanding one another and working through complex emotions in a safe, supportive environment. Couples and Family counseling focuses on strengthening communication, improving relationships, and addressing patterns within the family system that may be contributing to individual or collective challenges. By fostering collaboration and helping each family member work within their strengths, the counselor supports meaningful and lasting positive change in family relationships and overall wellbeing.Key Responsibilities· Conduct comprehensive assessments of family systems, relationships, and individual needs to develop individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans.· Provide individual, couple, and family therapy using evidence-based approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive BehaviouralTherapy (CBT), Structural Family Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy.· Address relational challenges including communication difficulties, conflict resolution, parenting concerns, intimacy issues, infidelity, separation/divorce, and blended family dynamics.· Support families during periods of crisis (e.g., separation, illness, grief, trauma), helping clients manage emotional distress and navigate transitions effectively.· Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide coordinated, wholistic care· Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and adhere to professional, ethical, and regulatory standards.Required Qualifications· Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) or the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)· Demonstrated experience providing therapy to couples and families, addressing relational, emotional, and psychological concerns.· Strong foundation in family systems theory and experience with evidence-based therapeutic modalities.· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse clients.· Compassionate, client-centred approach with sensitivity to cultural, socio-economic, and individual differences.· Ability to manage complex family dynamics while maintaining professionalism in emotionally charged situations. #J-18808-Ljbffr
