Migration Engineer

Job Description

Job Purpose/Summary :

We are seeking an experienced M365 Migration Engineer to support the migration and integration of Microsoft 365 environments from newly acquired businesses into the corporate tenant. The role requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft Teams and OneDrive migrations, along with strong coordination skills to work with the business stakeholders, security, and infrastructure teams during M&A integration activities.

Key Responsibilities :

M365 Migration & Integration

 Plan and execute M365 tenant-to-tenant migrations for newly acquired entities.

 Lead migrations of:

o Microsoft Teams (Teams, channels, chats where supported, tabs, apps,

permissions)

o OneDrive for Business (user data, sharing permissions, external access)

 Support SharePoint Online migrations linked to Teams and OneDrive.

 Perform user identity alignment with Entra ID during migrations.

 Execute mailbox coexistence or cutover activities.

Teams & OneDrive Expertise

 Migrate Teams structures, policies, governance settings, and collaboration workloads.

 Ensure continuity of collaboration, meetings, and file access post-migration.

 Handle OneDrive data validation, ownership transfer, and post-migration access issues.

 Optimize Teams and OneDrive configurations based on enterprise standards.

Planning, Testing & Validation

 Conduct discovery and readiness assessments of source tenants.

 Define migration waves, cutover strategies, and rollback plans.

 Perform pilot migrations, UAT support, and post-migration validation.

 Troubleshoot migration issues related to permissions, sync, access, and performance.

Stakeholder & Operational Support

 Work closely with M&A integration teams, security, identity, and service desk.

 Provide L2–L3 support for migration-related incidents and user issues.

 Create runbooks, migration documentation, and knowledge articles.

 Support hypercare post-migration and handover to operations teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.

 Strong experience in Microsoft 365 engineering and migrations.

 Strong hands-on experience with:

o Exchange Online migrations o Microsoft Teams migrations o OneDrive for Business migrations o SharePoint Online o Entra ID

 Experience with M365 migration tools, such as:

o ShareGate, BitTitan, or equivalent

 Strong PowerShell scripting skills for M365 administration and automation.

 Understanding of security, compliance, retention, and governance in M365.

 Experience supporting M&A or tenant consolidation projects (highly preferred).

Good to Have:

 Knowledge of Conditional Access, DLP, and sensitivity labels.

 Experience working in global, multi-tenant enterprise environments.

Certifications (Preferred):

 Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert

 Microsoft Teams Administrator Associate

 Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator
