Job Description
Applications are invited for the position of Talent Acquisition Specialist in the Human Resources Division, located at the Welland Campus with some travel to the Daniel J. Patterson Campus required.
This position is to cover a leave and approximate dates of the appointment are August 3, 2026, through January 4, 2028. The salary range is $76,029 to $95,038 with a target hiring salary of $76,029 to $85,534. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
Reporting to the Director of Talent and Organizational Development, the Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for managing the full recruitment and selection process to meet the staffing needs of both departments and clients. This role involves overseeing end-to-end hiring activities while ensuring a positive and efficient experience for both candidates and hiring managers. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing talent acquisition strategies and processes.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing expertise and support for the full recruitment and selection cycle, and delivering adequate service to meet staffing needs across the entire college
- Guiding each phase of the recruitment and selection process using best practices
- Working closely with HR Consultants and/or hiring managers to ensure that competencies and position specifications are accurately reflected in job postings and selection criteria
- Providing advice and information to hiring managers and committees on effective interview processes, college hiring policies, collective agreement requirements, and legal obligations
- Preparing job advertisements, developing short-list criteria, developing and maintaining a database of interview questions, and ensuring recruitment files and processes are complete
- Establishing marketing initiatives to secure top talent and maintain our employer brand
- Staying current on trends and innovative recruiting practices, by researching emerging best practices, and leveraging online, creative, and cost-effective resources to recruit top candidates
- Maintaining the applicant tracking system, workforce planning data, and reports for metrics
- Lead or support continuous improvement projects, and program development in talent acquisition
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) year diploma/degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a similar field of study
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in high volume recruitment in a unionized environment
- Designated Certified Human Resources Professional or Leader (CHRP or CHRL) is preferred
- Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation is considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to serve as a subject matter expert, providing in-depth knowledge, guidance, and analysis in talent acquisition
- Proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, understanding sourcing strategies, market trends, and best practices for identifying and attracting top talent across diverse functions and levels
- Proficient in behavioural and competency-based interviewing
- Ability to manage high-quality, high-volume, multi-location recruitment and selection processes
- Literacy in Microsoft Office applications with advanced skills in Word and Excel; applicant tracking systems and human resource information systems
