Job Description
Compensation Specialist
The Compensation Specialist serves as a key partner to HR and business leaders, supporting the design, analysis, and administration of compensation programs across the enterprise. This role provides analytical and operational support to ensure compensation decisions align with internal equity, market competitiveness, and organizational guidelines.
- Support the administration of compensation programs, ensuring alignment with enterprise compensation philosophy and pay practices.
- Analyze and provide recommendations for new hires, promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments.
- Partner with HR Business Partners to evaluate job classifications, reclassifications, and organizational structures.
- Conduct job audits and support job description development and standardization efforts.
- Assist in determining FLSA classification in alignment with regulatory guidelines.
- Perform market pricing and benchmarking using survey data (e.g., Culpepper, Ratchford).
- Prepare compensation analyses, reports, and dashboards to support business decisions.
- Maintain and ensure integrity of compensation data within HRIS (e.g., Workday).
- Monitor compensation trends and support ongoing program enhancements.
- Support compensation cycle activities (e.g., merit planning, promotions, audits).
- Provide guidance to managers on compensation-related inquiries.
- Support vendor relationships and survey participation.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc compensation reports.
- Support process improvement initiatives and documentation.
- Participating in projects related to compensation programs and enterprise initiatives.
- Attend relevant training, conferences, or seminars
- Any related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, finance or closely related field
Experience
- 3 years of experience in Human Resources, with exposure to compensation.
Knowledge:
- Foundational understanding of compensation principles and practices
- Knowledge of and experience with using Microsoft Excel with some exposure to formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP.
- Knowledge of the Hay Method Evaluation System.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite and HR automated data systems, preferably(Workday, PeopleSoft) or a comparable system.
- Knowledge of HR practices and principles including applicable pay.

Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the requirements above that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
For applicants who will perform this position in New York City or Westchester County, the proposed annual salary is $85,000.00p/yr. to $95,000.00p/yr. For applicants who will perform this position outside of New York City or Westchester County, salary will reflect local market rates and be commensurate with the applicant’s skills, job-related knowledge, and experience.
