Job Description

Nevada System of Higher Education. Reno, NV. Database Administrator responsible for the administration of databases and middleware products which support the software applications provided by System Computing Services to the NSHE community. Duties include: Define, allocate and load physical databases; develop procedures and standards for database administration; define backup and recovery procedures to support database and data dictionary integrity; respond to technical inquiries concerning database and related technology; develop and maintain security procedures and functions/uses of database software; evaluate new database software and determine applicability and benefits to the environment; monitor database management system operations to anticipate and prevent potential problems; control and execute system utilities to create and modify database structures, back up and restore the database, regenerate updates, and produce system reports.

Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field. 5 years of direct experience in administering the Oracle databases. The experience must include: Cross Platform Migration, Enterprise Database Server Administration, Database design, creation, and maintenance, Database monitoring, tuning, and job scheduling, Use of Grid Control and Enterprise Manager or similar applications, Basic Oracle database security, Database networking/integration; Fusion Middleware Administration: Installation and configuration of Oracle Application Server, Integration with disparate platforms/environments, Implementation of Oracle Identity Management solutions; Development/Tools Administration: Application Express (formerly HTMLDB), Designer, Developer Suite, JDeveloper, Java, J2EE, PL/SQL, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA): Data partitioning, Recovery Manager (RMAN), Data Guard, Grid computing, and Oracle Advanced Security.
