Position Overview:
As the Communications Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in managing communication channels between stakeholders and our project development team.
You will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies to ensure transparency, engagement, and alignment with project objectives. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in the renewables industry, particularly in managing communications for similar projects, and will possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Experience in communicating with stakeholders, regulatory bodies and landowners is essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communication plans and strategies to effectively convey project updates, milestones, and key information to stakeholders, including community members, regulatory bodies, landowners, government agencies, investors, and internal team members.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all communication-related inquiries and requests, both internal and external, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Organize and facilitate town hall meetings, community forums, and other engagement events to gather feedback, address concerns, and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to gather project-related information and ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.
- Create compelling content for various communication channels, including newsletters, press releases, website updates, social media posts, and presentations.
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to renewable energy projects, identifying potential issues or opportunities and providing proactive recommendations.
- Conduct stakeholder analyses to identify key influencers and develop targeted communication strategies to engage and mobilize support.
- Communicate effectively with regulatory bodies and landowners to address concerns, obtain necessary approvals, and ensure compliance with regulations and agreements.
- Track and analyze communication metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a communications role, preferably within the renewables industry or a related field.
- Proven experience organizing and hosting town hall meetings, community forums, or similar events.
- Experience communicating with various project stakeholders including landowners, community leaders, Indigenous communities and regulatory bodies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and other communication tools.
- Experience editing and updating website content.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Creative thinker with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to communication challenges.
- Passion for renewable energy and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience with CRM platforms is an asset.
- Image editing experience to enhance marketing materials is an asset.
