<p><strong>Software Engineer – Distributed Systems – Storage Protocols</strong></p> <p><strong>Location:</strong> Nasuni IIC Hyderabad, India — Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days offsite)</p> <p><strong>Role Overview</strong></p> <p>Nasuni is hiring a Software Engineer to contribute to the development and modernization of our storage protocol stack within a cloud-native, containerized platform.</p> <p>This role focuses on building and enhancing backend services that integrate with core file system protocols (NFS, SMB) while developing foundational expertise in distributed systems, Linux environments, and Kubernetes-based infrastructure. You will work closely with senior engineers to implement scalable systems, improve reliability, and support the evolution of legacy components into modern, containerized services.</p> <p>This role is best suited for engineers who:</p> <ul> <li>Have strong programming fundamentals and early systems or backend experience</li> <li>Are interested in working closer to the OS, storage, or protocol layers</li> <li>Want to grow into distributed systems and cloud-native infrastructure</li> </ul> <p>This is not a fit for engineers focused primarily on frontend development or manual QA.</p> <p><strong>Level &amp; Scope Definition</strong></p> <ul> <li>Contribute to the development of protocol and backend service components within a defined subsystem</li> <li>Execute on well-scoped tasks with guidance from senior engineers and technical leads</li> <li>Participate in design discussions, contributing ideas while building design proficiency</li> <li>Develop production-quality code with strong emphasis on testing and maintainability</li> <li>Collaborate with Platform, QE, and SRE teams to ensure reliability and observability</li> <li>Build foundational expertise in distributed systems, storage protocols, and containerized environments</li> </ul> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop and maintain backend services supporting distributed storage systems</li> <li>Contribute to integrations with storage protocols (NFS, S3, NAS) in Kubernetes environments.</li> <li>You will be developing&nbsp;highly scalable solutions using NFS systems and responsible for delivering high quality product.</li> <li>Write clean, maintainable and efficient code</li> <li>Develop and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, API)</li> <li>Participate in CI/CD workflows, ensuring code is tested and deployable</li> <li>Debug issues across application, Linux OS, networking, and container layers with support</li> <li>Participate in code reviews and adopt best practices for code quality and performance</li> <li>Collaborate with QE and SRE to improve observability (logging, metrics, tracing)</li> <li>Learn and apply distributed systems principles such as replication, fault tolerance, and consistency</li> <li>Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., copilots, debugging assistants) to improve productivity while validating correctness and performance</li> </ul> <p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p> <p><strong>Must-Have Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>2–5 years of software engineering experience</li> <li>Strong programming expertise in Go preferred, proficiency in Python or C++ is a plus</li> <li>Solid experience building and deploying backend services/APIs in Kubernetes-based environments (must-have)</li> <li>Deep understanding and working experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration (must-have)</li> <li>Strong knowledge of file systems and protocols, especially NFS preferred; exposure to SMB/CIFS/AD/ACL&nbsp;is a plus</li> <li>Experience with Docker, including building, optimizing, and managing Docker images and image repositories.</li> <li>Experience with Storage domain with NAS is big advantage&nbsp;</li> <li>Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) are required.</li> <li>Experience writing automated tests (unit and integration)</li> <li>Experience working with CI/CD pipelines</li> <li>Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts</li> <li>Experience using AI-assisted coding tools and validating generated outputs</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes)</li> <li>Exposure to file system protocols or storage systems (NFS, SMB, S3)</li> <li>Experience debugging issues across system layers (application, OS, networking)</li> <li>Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)</li> <li>Familiarity with observability tooling (logs, metrics, tracing)</li> <li>Experience working in multi-language environments (e.g., Go, Python, Java alongside C++)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Ideal Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Hands-on experience contributing to systems-level or storage-related components</li> <li>Experience working with or modifying protocol-integrated services</li> <li>Experience debugging production issues in distributed or containerized systems</li> <li>Experience improving test coverage and reliability in production environments</li> <li>Demonstrated use of AI tools to accelerate development, debugging, or testing workflows</li> </ul> <p><strong>Experience Guidelines</strong></p> <ul> <li>2–5 years total software engineering experience</li> <li>1–3 years in developing services/application that runs in Kubernetes</li> <li>Exposure to distributed systems, storage systems, or containerized environments preferred</li> </ul> <p><strong>About Nasuni</strong></p> <p>Nasuni is the unstructured data foundation for enterprise teams—and the AI that supports them.
