Join MST as a Communications Technician

Looking for a hands-on, customer-focused role in the mining and tunnelling technology space? MST, a global leader in mission-critical digital solutions and a Komatsu subsidiary, is seeking a Communications Technician to support our innovative RF, Wi-Fi, and safety technologies across underground and surface sites. This is a dynamic, field-based role offering opportunities to work on cutting-edge equipment, mentor others, and contribute to operational safety and productivity.

Description

Key Accountabilities:

Safety

  • Practice a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
  • Take a lead role in the promotion and management of safety, including participation in the monitoring of site safety; ensure completion of safety audits and a proactive approach to rectification.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and unobstructed work area, practicing good safety habits, and utilise appropriate safety equipment.
  • Understand OH & S responsibilities; observe and report any potentially unsafe or unhealthy work conditions.
  • Ensure all employees take reasonable care of health and safety of others.

Customer Service

  • Display a positive attitude and excel in the customers team environment.
  • Display an ability to perform without direct supervision.
  • Display initiative to engage work actively without direct supervision.
  • Display a high level of focus on delivering customer satisfaction.

Technical Management

  • Maintain and display commitment and proficiency in the following:
  • Ability to read/write RF transmission and reception systems
  • Installation and maintenance of Wi-Fi Network Solutions
  • Installation and maintenance of radio frequency (RF) equipment.
  • RF Solutions including Coaxial Cable Termination to a high level
  • Commitment to applying Occupational Health and Safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace
  • Participate on the on-call roster, in line with operational requirements.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and apprentices.
  • Proactively embed vested product knowledge in others where deficiencies exist

Administrative Procedures

  • Complete all administrative processes on time and accurately.
  • Ensure timesheets are submitted for approval on time, in line with prescribed deadlines.
  • Ensure Job Sheets are correctly signed off by site contact.
  • Ensure all workshop and service documentation, inclusive of quality assurance checklists, are correct and submitted on time.
  • Ensure company provided vehicles are maintained to a high level of cleanliness and serviceability.
  • Ensure company vehicle documentation is maintained, including daily checks and pre-emptive servicing.

Skills and Experiences:

Essential

  • Cert III in Electronic and Communications or equivalent

Desirable

  • Cert IV in Electronic and Communications or equivalent
  • Cert IV in Information Technology
  • EEHA Certification
  • Mine site experience
  • Tower Rescue certification or equivalent
  • Working at Heights certification
