Who You Are
The Senior Production Manager is responsible for leading the production function across all MRG Live events, ensuring operational excellence, consistency, and scalability across concerts, comedy shows, and festivals.
This role acts as the central production authority, overseeing execution standards, developing production talent, such as promoter reps, and supporting the commercial success of shows while owning key production infrastructure, vendor relationships, and operational systems required to deliver at scale.
You will work cross-functionally with Talent Buying, Marketing, Festivals & Events, Venue Operations, and Finance, while also building and leading a network of Promoter Representatives (tiered support model). This is a hands-on leadership role; balancing strategy, execution, and team development, with direct involvement in key shows.
The Fine Print:
Production Leadership & Execution
- Own the end-to-end production function across all Live events (concerts, comedy, festivals, special events).
- Own and manage production assets and inventory (equipment, technical resources), ensuring availability, maintenance, and cost efficiency across events.
- Act as the central point of oversight for production standards, ensuring consistency and quality across markets.
- Lead production planning, advancing, and on-site execution for key shows and festivals (including Burlington and other large-scale events).
- Step in as lead production or promoter rep as required by the business.
- Oversee rental relationships and external production vendors, including negotiation, performance management, and long-term partnerships.
Promoter Rep Model & Team Development
- Build, structure, and lead a tiered Promoter Representative model (Tier 1, Tier 2, etc.).
- Recruit, train, and develop promoter reps to support show execution at scale.
- Establish clear expectations, standards, and accountability across all reps, including performance tracking, deployment planning, and show coverage models.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to elevate production capabilities across the Live team.
Strategy, Scaling & New Business
- Support the valuation and feasibility process for new shows, festivals, and partnerships.
- Partner with Talent Buying and Finance to ensure production plans align with budgets and profitability targets, acting as a key advisor in show feasibility, budget modelling, and cost optimization during the advance stage.
- Play a key role in expanding production capabilities into new verticals (e.g., casinos, new markets, large-format events).
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and scale operations across the Live portfolio.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with Talent Buyers, Marketing, Festivals & Events and Venue Operations to ensure seamless show execution.
- Align production requirements with artist needs, technical riders, and venue capabilities.
- Ensure clear communication and coordination across internal and external stakeholders.
- Represent MRG Live in industry settings, building strong relationships with production partners and vendors.
Financial & Operational Accountability
- Develop and standardize production tools, templates, and workflows (e.g., budgets, advancing templates, show settlements) to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Contribute to budget planning and cost control for production across events.
- Ensure production decisions support overall event profitability and operational efficiency.
- Identify risks and proactively implement mitigation strategies.
- Support post-event reviews, settlements, and continuous improvement of production processes.
- Own and evolve production systems and documentation to support scale and consistency across markets.
- Act as the escalation point for complex or high-risk production issues across events.
- Operate with high adaptability, taking on ad hoc production and operational needs as required in a fast-paced environment.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience in live event production, touring, or concert promotion.
- Background as a Tour Manager, Production Manager, Tour Rep, or similar on mid-to-large scale shows (clubs theatres arenas).
- Experience managing production assets, vendor relationships, and external partners at scale.
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to build structure in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
- Experience in touring environments or production leadership roles, with interest in transitioning into a market-based leadership position.
- Proven ability to lead production across multiple events and operate at a portfolio level.
- Experience building or mentoring teams (directly or indirectly).
- Strong technical production knowledge, with solid commercial and budget awareness.
- Comfortable being hands-on for key shows and priority artists, while leading overall production standards across the portfolio.
This is an in-office role with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
What’s in it for you?
- Competitive compensation, including base salary, generous vacation package and gratuities.
- Opportunities for growth in a dynamic, fast-paced organization.
- A collaborative culture that celebrates creativity and innovation.
- Access to unique experiences across The MRG Group’s diverse portfolio.
