As an Operations Manager at American Journal Experts (AJE), a leading provider of academic editing and publication support services, your role will be crucial in overseeing talent selection, training, and onboarding, managing performance and engagement, optimizing processes, and ensuring quality standards are met.   • Team Recruitment & Management:
  • Hire, train, and manage a team of freelance & in-house editors, QC specialists, and support staff.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Develop a talent pipeline for scaling operations as needed.
  • Managing Team Performance and Engagement:
  • Set up systems and processes for managing editor performance and ensuring engagement.
  • Define goals and KPIs and support the team in meeting and exceeding them.
  • Provide support to the team and resolve conflicts.
  • Process Optimization & Workflow Management:
  • Oversee day-to-day editorial workflows, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
  • Employ automation tools and implement process improvements to improve quality and enhance productivity.
  • Monitor turnaround times, resource allocation, and workload distribution.
  • Optimize workflows to balance speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Assurance & Client Satisfaction:
  • Ensure the team exceeds established quality standards.
  • Develop a continuous improvement framework based on client feedback and performance analysis.
  • Establish protocols for handling escalations and reworks efficiently.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
  • Maintain clear and effective communication channels across functions.
  • Work closely with support teams to meet operational needs.
  • Provide regular reports and updates on performance and key challenges.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters degree.
  • 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in academic publishing, editorial services, or content.
  • Proven experience in change management and process improvements.
  • Experience managing large editorial teams and optimizing workflows for efficiency.
  • Familiarity with academic writing, manuscript editing, and journal publication processes.
