Reporting to the Business Development Manager, the Development Trainee – Junior Field Sales Representative plays a critical role in driving new business growth by identifying, qualifying, and converting industrial opportunities.
This role requires a structured and disciplined approach, with autonomy increasing progressively as performance is demonstrated. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to operate in a technical sales environment, manage complex opportunities, and consistently deliver measurable business outcomes. This role requires a combination of excellent listening skills and communication skills, strong attention to details + nuances, a strong desire to want to learn and improve, organizational skills, documentation skills, follow through skills, problem solving skills and most of all a passion for helping customers solve their problems and fulfill their operational needs with our expertise.
About the Mandate …
The Development Trainee – Junior Field Sales Representative supports the generation of net new revenue growth by contributing to the acquisition of new industrial accounts, while also supporting the maintenance and development of existing customer relationships.
The Development Trainee - Junior Field Sales Representative - focuses on positioning the company as a technical partner rather than a commodity supplier. The position is primarily oriented toward new business development (approximately 60–70% hunting), combined with structured management and growth of existing accounts (30–40%), ensuring both pipeline expansion and customer retention.
The Development Trainee – Junior Field Sales Representative requires a structured and disciplined approach to learning and execution, with progressive autonomy and increasing contribution to sales activities over time.
You will follow a structured onboarding approach, with the first 6 months focused on supervised development and responsibility increasing based on performance.
Onboarding & Ramp Expectations:
· First 90 days: shadowing and sales support only, no customer interaction
· Months 3–6: supervised customer interaction, no independent meetings, pricing, or commitments
· Progression is based on performance, not time
Success Metrics ,KPIs The following KPIs apply primarily post-ramp, once the Development Trainee - Field Sales Representative has progressed beyond the initial onboarding phase.

Core Responsibilities:
New Business Development
- Identify and analyze high-potential industrial accounts (initially through internal review before direct outreach)
- Engage decision-makers (production, maintenance, procurement) as ramp stage allows
- Generate interest through a consultative sales approach
- Convert prospects into qualified opportunities
Opportunity Management
· Support opportunity qualification by gathering required information (application, volume, feasibility) and updating CRM
· Prepare and submit sample requests in CRM, under direction of the senior rep; track delivery and follow up on results
· Support product trials by tracking status and documenting results internally
· Maintain accurate records of opportunity
