Job Description

Backend Engineer (ecommerce Platforms/Subscription Billings) - Canada - Fully Remote)

Morgan Mace is delighted to be on the market on behalf of our client a subscription-based eCommerce company looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to help architect and scale the infrastructure that powers our digital ecosystem. This is a fully remote role (U.S.-based) where you’ll work on high-impact projects across web apps, mobile apps, e-commerce, and integrated systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and maintain AWS-based microservices (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3).
  • Develop and optimize RESTful APIs and data pipelines in Python/Django.
  • Architect and manage MySQL databases to handle high-volume transactions and analytics.
  • Support integrations across e-commerce, LMS, and mobile platforms.
  • Implement and refine CI/CD pipelines and ensure code quality.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver scalable solutions.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3–5 years of backend/software engineering experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python/Django and MySQL.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services (ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
  • Background in building microservices and scalable APIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git workflows, and automated testing.
  • Knowledge of e-commerce or subscription platforms is a strong plus.
