Job Description
Moore & Lee, P.C. is a boutique law firm located in Tysons Corner, Virginia, specializing in construction litigation and government contracts. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented full-time Litigation Paralegal with a minimum of five years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation and excellent organizational abilities. Experience in construction law or government contracts is highly desirable but not required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of document production, including e-discovery preparation and review, document coding, and privilege logging.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and discovery requests.
- Prepare for depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials, including assembling exhibits and organizing case files.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, PACER, and other databases, and prepare written memoranda summarizing findings for attorney reviews.
- Interview clients and witnesses and prepare summaries of statements.
- Organize, maintain, and retrieve case files, including exhibits, evidence, pleadings, and deposition transcripts.
- Provide trial and hearing support, including preparing trial notebooks, managing exhibits, and assisting attorneys during proceedings.
- Track and maintain accurate records of billable time and case activity.
- Meet with attorneys, clients, and other professionals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the firm’s litigation practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of litigation paralegal experience, including substantial e-discovery experience.
- Paralegal certificate preferred; however, equivalent experience in a law firm litigation practice will be considered.
- Experience in construction law or complex commercial litigation is highly desirable.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Strong proficiency, in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), document review platforms (e.g., Relativity), and legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and professionally.
- Thorough understanding of civil litigation procedures, court rules, legal terminology, and research methodologies research methods.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a client-service orientation and the ability to build rapport with attorneys, clients, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting demands.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, and high-pressure environment.
