Summary Description:
Under direction, is responsible for providing comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling services to students in the area of academic achievement, career and educational decision making and personal/social development. Acts as a consultant in this regard to staff, parents and community. Physical Demands: As required by the duties and responsibilities of the job. Special Requirements: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
The MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI) Public Charter School serves middle school students in grades 6-8. MBLI offers a rigorous college- and career-preparatory program that integrates core academic instruction with business, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and real-world problem solving. As an MCPS authorized public charter school, MBLI is designed to support innovation in teaching and learning while operating in alignment with applicable MCPS policies, procedures, and expectations. Teachers at MBLI collaborate across disciplines to design project-based learning experiences that connect academic content to authentic applications and support students' growth in executive functioning, leadership, and social-emotional development. Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of MCPS Policies and Procedures, Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program, and Program of Studies. Knowledge of growth and developmental stages of adolescents. Ability to read, take notes, and interpret written materials. Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently with staff, students, and parents. Ability to use a computer and other technological equipment. Ability to use the computer for on-line scheduling. Excellent oral and written communication skill^s with the ability to speak effectively to both large and small groups. Excellent human relations skills with the ability to establish good relationships with many different types of individuals and groups
Education Training Experience:
Master^s degree from an accredited college or university in school guidance and counseling; Experience as a teacher and/or counselor preferred.Certificate License:Meets Maryland state certification requirements for school guidance and counseling.
