WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Human Resources, is recruiting for an Administrative Specialist III that will support HR operations for Health and HumanServices,which has over 2,000 positions.
In tandem with other HHS HR staff, the Administrative Specialist III will:
- Support the recruitment workflow process to include wage equity/compensation reviews; validate position information, complete bypass requests, when necessary, ensure that selected candidates have the appropriate licensures/certifications as required by the classification specifications, and conduct bi-weekly HHS Orientation.
- Work cohesively and collaboratively with OHR, OMB, Classification and Compensation, the Senior Leadership Team, and all external and internal customers.
- Oversee, update, and manage one or two Service Areas and process all wage equities and transactions for administrative positions.
- Provide oversight and management of merit status for new employees bymonitoringthe probation status timelines and promotional probational timelines for current employees.
- Analyseand perform Oracle transactions, including transfers,terminations, non-competitive promotions, leave without pay requests, etc.
- Monitor HR files as it relates to content and record retention.
- Ensure the highest-level of customer service by answering employee’s HR-related questions or providingtimelyandaccuratedirection.

INTERNAL ONLY - You must be a current Montgomery County Government employee, for consideration.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional administrative experience in human resources/personnel administration (HR Liaison work) working with Recruitment, Classification, Compensation, and Occupational Medical Services.
Substitutions:
- EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
- EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Working knowledge of the MCPR and MCGEO Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Experience working with Worker’s Compensation and FMLA.
- Experience with advanced functions in EXCEL.
