Job Description
About the role
The Senior Brand Strategist is a key architect of the brand strategy for our automotive client. You will bridge the gap between business requirements and culture-shifting insights. As a critical thinker, you will work across account, creative, and data teams to facilitate recommendations that drive both brand equity and performance. Combining audience insight, content leadership, and platform expertise, this role shapes how the brand shows up across channels, focusing on increasing brand awareness, improving marketing efforts, and enhancing sales and performance. Combining audience intelligence with AI-enhanced strategic workflows, this role shapes how the brand lives across the modern ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy + Planning:
- Full-Funnel Architecture: Design integrated consumer journeys that bridge the gap between high-level brand storytelling and performance-led tactics.
- AI-Enhanced Synthesis: Leverage AI tools and LLMs to accelerate audience segmentation, persona building, and the development of "liquid" content strategies that scale across platforms.
- Cultural White Space: Move beyond tracking existing trends to identifying "white space" opportunities where the automotive brand can authentically lead cultural conversations and community behaviors.
- Messaging Ecosystems: Inform the development of core strategy foundations, including positioning, messaging hierarchies, and competitive defense strategies across multiple lines of business.
- Strategy Integration: Partner closely with account, creative, social and operations teams, and any other capabilities, to deliver and implement best-in-class innovative strategies.
Execution + Optimization:
- Strategic Briefing & POVs: Author senior-level briefs and strategic points-of-view that transform business challenges into "proactive" creative opportunities, ensuring all tactics are rooted in human truth.
- Algorithmic Optimization: Partner with media and platform experts to ensure creative assets are optimized for specific channel algorithms and high-intent automotive audience behaviors.
- Test & Learn Leadership: Champion an experimentation roadmap, testing emerging platforms and new content formats to drive engagement and brand favorability.
- Creative Governance: Guide and review work from creative partners to ensure execution remains on-strategy while pushing the boundaries of what is standard for the automotive category.
Insights + Reporting:
- Measurement Frameworks: Define clear KPIs and measurement frameworks ensuring every strategic recommendation is tied to a trackable business outcome.
- Performance Provocation: Drive deep-dive analysis of analytics to uncover not just what happened, but why, translating data into strategic pivots and future growth plans.
- Executive Storytelling: Produce high-impact, executive-level reports that connect complex data points into a cohesive narrative regarding brand health and ROI.
- Predictive Trend Analysis: Utilize social listening and proprietary data tools (GWI, MRI) to forecast market shifts and evolving consumer sentiment regarding electric mobility and ownership models.
Collaboration + Leadership:
- Client Relationship Management: Act as the primary strategic lead for the client, facilitating sprints and workshops to deepen the agency-client relationship and identify new business opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Lead integrated teams across Creative, Data, and Media to ensure the strategy is not omni-channel and cohesive.
- Mentorship & Quality Assurance: Coach junior strategists by providing actionable feedback on their deliverables.
- Innovation Advocacy: Establish internal playbooks and training sessions; provide thought leadership on content marketing vision and best practices for the marketing of today and tomorrow, powered by AI, fueled by cultural context, trends and conversations
Background & Skills
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in strategy, from creative or in-house agencies, with a strategy background and a holistic approach, including: brand, creative and comms strategy, content, channel planning and messaging. A great ability to connect the thinking between media strategy, performance, big idea, tactics and social is needed.
- Strong and recent experience in the automotive industry and dynamics.
- Proficiency in industry research, trends and data tools, such as MRI, GWI and the key platforms.
- Skilled in bringing new ideas to the table, leveraging data and insights, and effectively selling through these ideas to team and clients, providing rationale and research.
- Experience in developing content and communications journeys and ecosystems.
- Deep understanding of audience insights, cultural trends, and community behaviors relevant to automotive consumers.
- Excellent multitasking skills and the ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously
- Experience mentoring and managing junior talent and leading cross-functional teams.
- BS degree in Marketing or relevant field
- Fluency in English (additional language skills are a plus)
