Job Description
About Us
Monarch Social Media is a strategy-first agency working with founders and brands across wellness, healthcare, lifestyle, food, education, and more. We build content ecosystems that convert, not just scroll past. We're growing, and we need an editor who gets what that means.
The Role
We're looking for a freelance video editor who lives and breathes short-form social content. You understand what makes someone stop scrolling, and you know how to build that into every cut. This isn't a traditional editing role, you need to think in trends, hooks, and platform-native formats.
You will not be filming yourself. You will not be building your own personal brand. You will be editing footage we provide, shot by our videographers or clients, and turning it into polished, trend-driven content for our clients' social media accounts.
This starts as a part-time engagement with real opportunity to grow as we scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Apply current editing trends, pacing, transitions, text overlays, and sound design to elevate raw footage
- Follow creative briefs and brand guidelines while bringing your own instincts to every edit
- Deliver multiple formats and aspect ratios as needed per platform
- Stay ahead of what's performing in social feeds and bring those insights to the table
- Collaborate with strategists and content leads to align edits with campaign goals
- Turn around edits efficiently and handle revision rounds with a clear, professional process
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience editing social media content, not just general video production
- Strong understanding of short-form video: hooks, pacing, captions, trending audio, and native formats
- Proficient with your own professional editing software
- Able to work independently and manage your own deadlines with minimal oversight
- Detail-oriented with a consistent, reliable turnaround
- Comfortable working across multiple client accounts and content styles
- Clear communicator — especially around timelines, feedback, and revisions
Bonus If You Have
- Experience editing for brands, agencies, or service-based businesses
- Motion graphics or basic animation skills
- An eye for content strategy beyond just the edit
- Familiarity with wellness, healthcare, or lifestyle brands
What Success Looks Like
- Edits that consistently reflect platform trends and perform
- Reliable, on-time delivery with minimal back-and-forth
- Proactive suggestions
- A long-term partnership as our client roster grows
Compensation
- $15–$22/hour depending on experience and output
- Part-time to start, with opportunity to grow into more consistent volume
- Project-based flexibility with a structured, organized team
