Job Summary
The Mississauga Canoe Club is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Digital Communications Manager to update, upgrade, and oversee our online presence. The successful candidate will design, rebuild, and manage our new website, ensuring it is visually engaging, user-friendly, and regularly updated with relevant content that reflects our club's values and activities. In addition, the successful candidate will manage our email database & email communications (monthly newsletter), manage and develop and optimize strategy and content for our social media channels, and develop/execute digital advertising programs to attract new participants to the club.
This role involves collaborating with various teams to promote events, news, and initiatives that foster a strong community among our members and supporters.
Key Responsibilities:
● Utilizing both AI and traditional tools: Redesign, build, manage, and actively update a brand new Mississauga Canoe Club website using the Shopify platform.
● Develop and implement content strategies to enhance user engagement across all digital channels.
● Increase website & social media traffic.
● Collaborate with athlete and relevant digital content creators to produce high-quality and compelling social media content.
● Monitor website and social channels performance using analytics tools and generate regular reports on user behavior and engagement metrics.
● Optimize the new website for search engines (SEO) to enhance visibility and reach.
● Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to website, database, and social media functionality promptly.
● Coordinate with the marketing team to align online campaigns and initiatives.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s (or higher) degree in Marketing, Communications, Web Development, or a related field.
● Proven experience in website build/management and digital marketing, preferably in the sports or non-profit sector.
● Proficiency in content management systems.
● Strong understanding of AI and current tools.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong analytical skills and experience with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
● Familiarity with SEO best practices and tools (organic, and paid).
● Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Skills:
● Knowledge of graphic design tools (e.g. Canva, Adobe Creative Suite ++).
● Experience in building out e-commerce platforms
● Passion for paddling sports and a strong understanding of the canoeing community.
Eligibility for Canada Summer Jobs Program:
To Be Eligible, You Must:
● Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
● Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and
● Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Note: International students are not eligible participants. As the objective of the CSJ program is to support youth entering the Canadian labour market, the temporary nature of an international student’s time in Canada does not allow for a long-term connection to the labour market.
International students include anyone who is temporarily in Canada for studies and who is not a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.
