Power Plant Operator Trainee

Position

Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for an Operator Trainee at our Milton R. Young Power Plant near Center, ND. The Milton R. Young Station is a two‑unit coal‑fired power plant, providing a stable energy source for our cooperative member‑owners. The station is located 35 miles from Bismarck, North Dakota.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and facilities
• Perform building and ground maintenance activities
• Lead to membership of the plant‑site Fire Brigade
• Utilize hand and power tools
• Operate light vehicles, tractors, skid‑steer loaders and similar equipment
• Perform heavy manual labor
• Assemble and work off scaffolding
• Work overtime on nights and weekends under a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule

Qualifications

• Certification or Associate’s Degree in Power, Process or Industrial Technology preferred
• Good color vision and a valid driver’s license
• Ability to meet the physical and mental requirements of the position
