About Us

We are a part of the Public Health I&IT Solutions Branch (PHS). We develop and implement innovative I&IT solutions that modernize and improve public health care in Ontario. We support ministry-supported public health solutions and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and modernizing I&IT solutions for public health and associated stakeholders.

About the job

In this role, you will:

• Provide technical and team leadership on development teams delivering large, complex applications across analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.
• Coordinate and conduct business and information requirements analysis, translating client needs into effective, cost-efficient application solutions.
• Perform and oversee complex programming using industry-standard languages, operating systems, and development and testing tools.
• Lead and support comprehensive testing activities, including unit, system, and user acceptance testing, and develop complete testing documentation (test cases, scripts, audit materials).
• Provide expert input to business and system analysts, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and recommend acceptance or rejection of system components.
• Apply project management, architecture, and governance practices to ensure solutions meet business objectives, technical standards, and ministry IT strategies.

What you bring to the team

Technical and General IT Knowledge

You have:

• experience in manual and automated system testing of complex software applications and cloud solutions (e.g., Salesforce & AWS), including preparing system test plans, test cases, test data using manual and automated techniques, test execution and developing complete system testing documentation
• knowledge of web-based n-tier Java related technologies and Unix/Solaris operating systems and Oracle databases
• knowledge of systems development lifecycle, and system testing methodology, including experience in applying these methodologies
• experience with various tools and techniques such as data retrieval queries (e.g. SQL), automated testing software (e.g. Selenium, Visual Studio), automated and manual test scripts, defect tracking tools (e.g. Jira) and version control tools (e.g. Github, SVN)
• the ability to develop recommendations and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of testing practices
