Finance Accounting Consultant

Role: Accounting Consultant – Accounting Operations & Reporting

Location: Richmond/ McLean, VA/ Wilmington, DE

Duration: 12 Months

Focus: General Ledger Systems | Month-End Close | SEC Reporting

We are looking for a seasoned accounting professional to join an ongoing finance systems implementation as a functional subject matter expert on the General Ledger workstream.

What You'll Do

• Own the accounting logic within the GL system — journal entries, chart of accounts structure, period-end processes, and consolidation rules
• Translate complex accounting requirements (GAAP-based) into system configurations alongside the technical team
• Support month-end and quarter-end close activities including GL consolidations and equity method investment accounting
• Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q support).
• Identify opportunities to modernize and optimize accounting workflows — not just lift-and-shift legacy processes
• Serve as the accounting voice in cross-functional meetings with IT, finance ops, and external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 6–10+ years in accounting with strong GL and financial reporting experience
• Deep understanding of US GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a strong plus
• Hands-on experience with GL systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Workday Financials, Blackline, NetSuite)
• Prior exposure to system implementations or finance transformation projects preferred
• CPA preferred but not mandatory if experience is strong.
