About Metron AI

Metron AI is building an AI-powered platform that connects training, nutrition, supplements, and recovery into one intelligent system that adapts daily to your wearable data. We're pre-seed, currently in beta for iOS, and both cofounders are building this alongside full-time jobs. We've built the full platform, the beta is live, and now we need someone to own our data and ML infrastructure.

We're competing with YC-backed startups. We have less money but more speed, taste, and conviction. Our moat isn't the AI. It's the data that trains the AI. We need someone to build that moat.

The Role

We're looking for a Founding Data Scientist to own the statistical and machine learning infrastructure of Metron AI from the ground up. You'll work directly with the cofounders to design the systems that make our AI smarter over time.

This is a foundational, equity-heavy role. We're offering ownership. This is part-time (10-15 hrs/week) and hybrid.

What you'll own

• Per-athlete statistical models (correlations, multivariate regression, anomaly detection, trend analysis)
• Predictive models using Random Forest, XGBoost, and neural networks
• Time series analysis and forecasting on wearable data Closed-loop learning system (predictions → outcomes → model improvement)
• Cross-source data analysis (wearables + nutrition + glucose + subjective state)
• Neural network architecture for sequential athlete data (LSTM, transformers)
• Prediction accuracy tracking and model performance monitoring
• Fine-tuning pipeline for LLMs on proprietary athlete data RAG systems for personalized athlete context
• The data moat that makes us defensible against WHOOP, Oura, and everyone else

Who you are

• PhD in statistics, machine learning, applied math, or related field (required)
• Experience with regression modeling, time series analysis, and predictive analytics
• Strong foundation in statistical methods (hypothesis testing, Bayesian inference, causal inference) Experience building and deploying neural networks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) Comfortable with Python (pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, XGBoost) and SQL
• Experience with LLMs, fine-tuning, RAG, or ML infrastructure
• Self-starter who doesn't need to be managed
• Curious and hungry. You want to see your models in production, not just in papers
• Genuine interest in fitness, health tech, or performance
