Urgent Requirement: Counsellor (Short-Term Assignment)
Role Description
We are urgently looking for a Counsellor for a one-month, on-site assignment in Sohra, Meghalaya.
The role involves working directly with adolescents, providing mental health support through basic assessments, counselling sessions, and field engagement. You will conduct regular visits to schools and health centres, engaging with young people in real-world settings.
This position requires someone who can create a safe, empathetic space, understand adolescents’ emotional and psychosocial needs, and actively support programme implementation on the ground.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience in counselling
- Preference for candidates fluent in Khasi
- Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development (9–19 years)
- Experience working with adolescents in school or community settings
- Ability to engage with adolescents in a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner
- Sensitivity to issues related to peer pressure, bullying, emotional distress, and psychosocial well-being
- Familiarity with ethical practices, including confidentiality and safeguarding of minors
- Experience in group facilitation or adolescent engagement sessions is an advantage
