Job Summary
MPP Aftermarket Technical Services is seeking an Automation & Digital Tech Support Specialist to support the aftermarket and field service lifecycle of MPP automation & digital products. This role is focused on electrical troubleshooting, dealer support, and issue resolution, with particular emphasis on electrical panels and control systems.
The Automation & Digital Tech Support Specialist, with an electrical engineering education or background will be well suited to interpret technical documentation, diagnose complex electrical issues, and collaborate effectively with internal support and engineering teams, playing a critical role in delivering exceptional customer service to Dealers by providing accurate, timely, and cost‑effective solutions that improve equipment reliability and uptime.
Job Duties
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Research, diagnose, and troubleshoot electrical system and electrical panel issues on customer equipment
- Support Dealers with remote and on-site technical assistance for equipment failures and performance concerns
- Identify probable root causes of electrical and system-related failures and recommend corrective actions
- Provide guidance on appropriate aftermarket parts, service solutions and upgrade opportunities
- Read, interpret, and communicate service manuals, wiring diagrams, technical bulletins, and engineering documentation
- Troubleshoot interactions between electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
Dealer & Customer Support
- Serve as the primary technical contact for Dealers, providing professional, clear, and timely responses
- Adapt communication to suit varying levels of technical knowledge
- Build strong working relationships with Dealers through effective problem solving and customer-focused support
- Represent MPP products positively and professionally at all times
Internal Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Act as a liaison between Dealers and MPP Technical Support, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
- Collect field data, service findings, and customer feedback to support ongoing product improvements & upgrade opportunities
- Assist Engineering by escalating recurring issues, design concerns, or field trends
- Maintain well-organized service records, case histories, and technical documentation
- Assist in compiling technical data and reports for internal review
- Support internal and external training initiatives for Dealers, customers, and employees when required
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field is preferred
- 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment service, electrical troubleshooting, or technical support
- Strong hands-on experience with electrical systems, panels, and control circuits
- Exposure to aftermarket service environments and dealer support is highly desirable
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
Skills & Competencies
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (phone and email)
- Ability to analyze customer needs and provide practical, cost-effective solutions
- High level of professionalism, patience, and customer sensitivity
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Excel is an asset
