Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security systems to protect organizational assets. This role requires a strong technical background in various security technologies, construction principles, and electrical systems. The Security Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity and safety of physical and digital infrastructure. Candidates should possess a comprehensive understanding of blueprint reading, computer hardware, CCTV, computer networking, and low voltage systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge security projects in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop security system layouts using schematics and blueprints, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Install, configure, and maintain CCTV cameras, sensors, IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and telecommunication equipment
- Conduct electrical work related to low voltage wiring, power tools operation, and mechanical integration of security components
- Read and interpret construction schematics and technical drawings for system installation
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on computer hardware, networking issues, and security sensors
- Collaborate with construction teams to integrate security systems into new or existing facilities
- Utilize hand tools and power tools for installation and maintenance of security infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and implement updates or repairs as needed to ensure optimal operation
- Document system configurations and maintenance activities for compliance and future reference
- Other duties as required
Experience
- Proven experience in security engineering or related field with a focus on physical security systems
- Strong background in blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction principles
- Hands-on experience with CCTV installation, sensors, IDS, telecommunication systems, and low voltage wiring
- Knowledge of computer hardware setup, networking protocols, and cybersecurity fundamentals
- Electrical experience including wiring, circuit troubleshooting, and working with power tools
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to installing physical components within various environments
- Familiarity with schematics related to security systems and ability to read technical diagrams effectively
- Prior experience working with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment used in security infrastructure installation
Safety Certifications:
- Working at Heights
- WHMIS
- Completion of a two- to three-year college program in electronics or completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in electronic servicing and repair or completion of high school or college courses in electronics and on-the-job training is required.
- Trade certification for electronics technicians
