The Opportunity

The Senior Manager, Paid Media is the performance engine of MAV’s Integrated Marketing Communications team. This role owns day‑to‑day paid media strategy, planning, and optimization across MAV brands ensuring that investments are consumer‑signal‑led and tightly integrated with creator, PR, and owned social activity.

This position will design a media system that amplifies proven content, improves ROAS, and maximize impact. While this role does not directly own retail media, it will partner closely with Sales and E‑commerce to ensure brand media and retailer media are coordinated for maximum omnichannel impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Paid Media Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and own paid media strategies for MAV brands across paid social and digital video channels (e.g., Meta, TikTok, YouTube), with clear roles by channel for awareness, consideration, and conversion.
  • Translate brand and communications strategies into media plans that support our omnichannel retail and Amazon business—driving discovery, intent, and conversion.
  • Build annual and quarterly media plans and test roadmaps, including budget allocations, channel mix, and success benchmarks tied to EMV, engagement, and commercial KPIs.

“Paid Follows Proof” Execution

  • Operationalize the principle that paid amplifies what organic has already proven by partnering with Communications and Brand teams to systematically identify high‑performing creator and owned assets for scaling.
  • Design and run structured testing frameworks (creative, audience, placement, bidding) that continuously improve performance and inform future content briefs and creator strategies.
  • Establish and enforce clear guardrails for when to scale, hold, or stop spend, grounded in ROAS, CPC/CPV, engagement, and reach & frequency thresholds.

Performance Measurement & Insight Generation

  • Build simplified, actionable reporting that connects creator, branded content, paid, and owned social performance into a single view for the Integrated Comms and Brand teams.
  • Define and track flywheel‑aligned KPIs: creator‑native vs brand‑produced creative performance, EMV‑to‑spend ratio, testing velocity, content‑to‑paid amplification ratios, and contribution to retail velocity and new customer growth.
  • Translate media performance into clear insights and recommendations, feeding the monthly “learning loop” and future communications strategies.

Retail & Commerce Media Integration

  • Partner with Brand, E‑commerce, and Sales to connect Amazon Media, Walmart Connect, and other retailer platforms into the broader communications plan, ensuring creator and content learnings inform retail media.
  • Help design playbooks for using creator‑led assets in retail and lower‑funnel environments while protecting brand equity and performance.

Cross‑Functional & Agency Leadership

  • Act as a day‑to‑day strategic counterpart to media agencies, challenging recommendations, aligning them to flywheel principles, and ensuring they work from the same brief and performance signals as internal teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Creator Partnerships, Social & Community, PR, and Creative to ensure content pipelines, approvals, and asset variations meet media needs and timelines.
  • Contribute actively to the Integrated Planning Forum and monthly performance reviews, bringing forward data‑driven recommendations on where to shift budgets and focus.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 6–8+ years of experience in paid media / performance marketing, ideally within beauty, CPG, or lifestyle brands.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi‑channel paid media programs (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google, Amazon/retail media) with multi‑million‑dollar budgets.
  • Experience integrating creator/influencer content into paid (whitelisting, Spark Ads, dark posts, licensing) and operating within a creator‑led ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical skills with a track record of building testing frameworks, interpreting performance data, and using insights to optimize campaigns and guide strategy.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional partners and agencies, influence decisions, and communicate complex performance stories in simple, business‑friendly terms.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment with evolving systems and structures.

Additional Job Details:

  • Location: 4 days on-site at 100 New Park Place in Vaughan, ON.
  • Posting Type: Existing vacancy
  • Compensation: Annual base salary of $95,000 - $130,000
  • In addition, this role is eligible for an annual target bonus of up to 15% based on individual and company performance. Note: actual compensation is determined by factors including skills required and experience.
